A big thank you from the team at Bow River Publishing to those supporters who attended the book launch at Redfern. A formal head count was not taken, but it is believed that more than three hundred plus people attended. More importantly, the authors presented Historic Electric Traction Society a donation towards valuable electric train preservation.

FALL OF THE BAR IS THE INTOXICATING LOOK AT CHANGE

Join the author on his often dry, beer tap journey along New South Wales’ forgotten beer byways as he discovers the history of many humble working-class pubs. Many of these old watering holes are under threat from redevelopment or have been displaced by a changing society.

The pubs studied include:

  • The White Bay, The Bridge and the Terminus Hotels in Inner Sydney.
  • The Railway, Commercial and Signal Hotels at Werris Creek.
  • The Star, The Empire and the Bellevue Hotels at Newcastle.
  • The Imperial and the Central Hotels at Tamworth.
  • The Hotel Dorrigo and the Commercial Hotel Dorrigo.
  • The Royal, the Post Office, the Court-House and the Imperial Hotels at Manilla.
  • The Railway Hotel at Boggabri.
  • The Railway Hotel at Warialda Rail.
  • The Loftus Hotel at Junee.

FALL OF THE BAR is a soft covered book of two-hundred pages and includes historic Tooth and Co. black and white photographs, as well as including contemporary colour photographs of these iconic watering holes.
